AI for Real Estate Agents: How to Save Time with ChatGPT

author: katy peer marketing Jul 13, 2023

When you hear “AI for real estate agents,” your mind likely goes directly to chatbots. Sure, chatbots and lead gen tools are worthy of the attention they get, but there is more to the story. For example, what about using AI as a virtual assistant?

The majority of real estate agents work in a silo. It’s rare to have an assistant or have a team supporting your efforts. If you find yourself wearing every hat under the sun, you might just find exactly the help you need with AI. And the price is right. As I write this, ChatGPT is free to use.

To help you get started, I’m sharing 10 ways to use AI as a virtual assistant below. These tips are meant to speed up and optimize your daily tasks, and the included prompts will help. Try logging how long specific tasks take you currently, and then again after using AI. Remember: every minute saved is money in real estate. Even if AI can’t do a task completely or the way you prefer, it may save time by giving you a starting point.

Writing listing descriptions

Even for the best writers, coming up with new, fresh listing descriptions can be challenging. ChatGPT is a fantastic tool for, at minimum, giving you a push in the right direction. The trick is feeding AI accurate and detailed information. Don’t be afraid to ask for edits or add your own spin to it before going live on your MLS.

Example Prompt:

Write a 150 word listing description for property at “x address”. This is an X story home with X square feet of property. Here are the top five features I want to highlight:

Writing emails to clients

Email is another place you’ll encounter writer’s block. Even the simplest of client communications can be challenging to formulate. Type in your key points and let ChatGPT wordsmith it for you.

Example Prompt:

Write an email to a past client from their real estate agent wishing them a happy anniversary. Let them know that I have sold a few properties in their area and if they are curious about the local market, I will help. Make the email 3-5 sentences and upbeat.

Writing scripts

For some, writing emails might come easy, but it’s starting conversations that leaves you speechless. ChatGPT can help you find the words for cold calls and listing presentations alike. As with any scripts you might purchase or find online, the key here is to use them as a starting point. If you don’t react with emotion and show your personality, you won’t have the success you seek.

Example Prompt:

Write a script as if you were a real estate agent calling a potential seller who filled out a form online because they are interested in selling their home at X address. How should I start the conversation? I want to share that my name is X and that I specialize in real estate in their market.

Brainstorming new ideas for marketing

ChatGPT can help with brainstorming! Use AI as a brainstorming buddy by feeding it ideas and asking it to come up with similar ones. Maybe you ask it for ideas on direct mailers to send to addresses in a neighborhood you are trying to target. Maybe you ask if it to come up with a new email campaign concept to send to lapsed leads. Get creative!

Example Prompt:

What’s a good marketing campaign for a real estate agent looking to get more listings in the summer months in X neighborhood? The budget is $500 and I want it to take place over the next two months.

Writing video scripts

While video comes easy for some, others find nothing scarier than creating videos for social media. If you aren’t used to being on camera, it can be intimidating and hard to know where to start. Whether you’ve never made an Instagram Reel before, or you aren’t sure exactly what to say, AI can be helpful in creating a script. Simply feed ChatGPT the general idea of what you want, and see what it comes up with. Just like with dialogue scripts, you’ll certainly want to make it your own before hitting record or going live.

Example Prompt:

Write a video script for an Instagram Reel with a real estate agent talking to potential clients. Mention that the market is heating up and interest rates are going down. If they want to talk about their options, their schedule is open for the week.

Creating social posts

Outside of video, AI can be helpful in generating new social media ideas, writing captions, and coming up with trending hashtags. You might also ask it to add emojis or a joke to a caption. Even if you have an idea of what you want to post, AI can help you speed up the process!

Example Prompt:

Write a caption for a Facebook and Instagram post with a photo of me (a real estate agent) at an open house for a new listing at x address. Mention that it will be open again next week and the offers are already starting to come in. Include emojis and trending hashtags.

Writing email newsletters

Do you send out newsletters to past clients and leads? It’s a great way to stay top-of-mind and provide helpful information. It sounds great in theory, but finding the time is another thing. With AI, you can streamline the process.

Example Prompt:

I’m a real estate agent and I want to send a newsletter to my past clients updating them on the market and asking them if they have any questions. I’m located in X area. What should I include in the newsletter? Can you write an example for me?

Writing your agent bio

Do you have an agent bio that you share on your digital platforms and in your brochure? Is it updated or years old? Writing about yourself is hard! A great way to get started is to feed ChatGPT the basic bullet points you would want to include. See what it comes up with and make edits from there to make it feel unique to you.

Example Prompt:

Write a professional bio for a real estate agent named MY NAME with X years of experience. I am from X area. I graduated from X university. Here are 5 things about me and some client reviews.

Find tips for buyers and sellers

As a real estate agent, it’s your goal to be as helpful as possible for your clients. When a new scenario arises, that means doing your research to help guide them in the right direction. Instead of falling into a Google Search spiral, check with ChatGPT to formulate some clear suggestions.

Example Prompt:

What advice would you give to a new homeowner looking to redo their kitchen? How much would you estimate it would cost and how would you suggest they go about it?

Writing your website content

Have you been procrastinating on creating a website because you don’t want to write the content? Help is here! ChatGPT can be a great tool for helping you write your website content. Just remember to edit and tweak it to make it your own. You want to make sure the content is unique so that it shows up in search algorithms when customers are looking for an agent in your area.

Example Prompt:

Write an About Me section for a real estate agent in X area. Make sure it is optimized for SEO for the area. Here are 5 facts I want included

If you take one thing away from this article, it’s that AI can save you time. It might not be the flawless assistant you seek, but it’s worth using as a starting point for a multitude of projects. Remember: time is your most important asset! Don’t let any fear of technology stop you from trying something that could save you time and energy. That’s more time and energy to put towards what you do best: landing clients and closing deals!
